The hardest part about pursuing your dream job? Its not going to make you money right away. Everyone is always telling you to chase your dreams, but your dreams come at costs as well. The first step and hardest step is deciding to pursue your dreams. The rest should come easy since you are doing something you love. It is not always going to be easy though. You are going to have your ups and downs, and you are going to feel like giving up sometimes, but don’t! If you feel like you are alone, talk to someone or take a little break and gather your thoughts. Remember that no one else is going to make your dream come true except you, so set goals and stay organize and follow some of our tips that have helped us so far! We are going to show you how to balance a full-time job and your dream job.
1) Setting Goals
Nothing in life is going to come easy. You have to work for what you want. For us, our first step was to just get our blog up and running. After we started to grow, we knew we wanted to revamp our website and set a goal for ourselves to do that around our one-year mark. I know it might sound like a silly simple goal, but sometimes that is all you need. Ask yourself where you want to be in one year, and set small goals to help achieve your long-term goal! This is crucial when it comes to how to balance a full-time job and your dream job.
2) Planning Ahead of Time
Blogging for us is extremely time consuming. We try to plan out our week with what we are going to post when. We write our blog posts over the weekend (or late at night during the week) and take all of our pictures in one day for the week ahead. Sometime we admit it doesn’t always work out to plan and we do fall behind. However, it has been a learning process everyday. The more we plan out the more organized and smooth our week goes. Planning ahead is a big step in how to balance a full-time job and your dream job!
3) Engaging with Others
If you are opening your own store, becoming a blogger, writing a book, or anything else, it is always important to engage and talk with others who are doing the same. For those who have achieved their goals already, remember they were in your position once and may be willing to offer a helping hand or some important insights. Talk with others who are in the same boat, you want others to succeed with you.
4) Do Something Everyday
It doesn’t have to be something big, but it is important to make sure you are making steps towards your goals everyday. Whether it is checking something off of your list, researching to learn more, or creating a new goal. This is important because it will help you stay motivated and focused on where you really want to be. Doing something little everyday brings you one step closer to your dream.
5) Remember to Have Fun
Don’t let two jobs stress you out. It is so easy to get discouraged. Especially while watching others succeed so much quicker than you. Don’t be too hard on yourself, and go at your own pace. Remember that you are balancing many things right now. You have a full-time job, commitments and responsibilities that will get in the way at times and that is okay. You may feel stressed at times and like you are spreading yourself thin. Think of the long-term outcome and how happy you will be doing something you love everyday. As long as you are passionate and willing to work, your dream job will come with time and patience. We are here cheering for you! we hope you enjoyed learning about how to balance a full-time job and your dream job.
